Who is behind the brand Michal Čiliak Wood Design?

My name is Michal Čiliak and in my workshop in the Czech Republic I personally focus on the handmade production of wooden pens and other design products. Every piece is created individually with great attention to detail.

Are all products handmade?

Yes. All products are made by hand in my workshop. This is not mass production but original pieces created from natural materials.

Is every product unique?

Yes. I use natural wood whose grain is always unique. Each product therefore differs slightly and no two pieces are completely identical.

Fountain pens and ballpoint pens

What is the difference between a fountain pen and a ballpoint pen?

A fountain pen offers a smoother and more personal writing experience and is ideal for lovers of the classic writing style. A ballpoint pen is more practical for everyday use and does not require ink.

Are the pens suitable for everyday use?

Yes. I design my pens to be ergonomic and comfortable even during longer writing sessions. They are suitable both for everyday work and for special occasions.

Are the pens suitable for left-handed users?

Yes. During production I focus on proper balance and smooth ink flow, so the pens are suitable for left-handed users as well.

How is a fountain pen refilled?

Fountain pens are compatible with standard ink cartridges or a converter. Refilling is simple and does not require any special tools.

Care for wooden products

How should I take care of a wooden pen or product?

I recommend protecting wooden products from long-term moisture and extreme temperatures. The surface is treated to withstand normal everyday use without requiring special maintenance.

Can the appearance of the wood change over time?

Yes. Wood is a natural living material and over time it may develop a subtle patina that enhances its natural character and uniqueness.

Gifts and personalization

Are the products suitable as a gift?

Yes. Handmade wooden pens and wooden products are popular gifts for birthdays, graduations, anniversaries and professional achievements.

Is engraving or personalization possible?

For selected products, engraving or another form of personalization is available. The specific options are always listed with the particular product.

How long does production and shipping take?

The production time varies depending on the specific product and the current workload of the workshop. Availability information is always listed with each product.

Where are the products shipped from?

All products are shipped from the Czech Republic directly from my workshop.
