Rollerball pens
The rollerball pen is a modern evolution inspired by the traditional fountain pen. Smooth, elegant and incredibly comfortable to write with.
The biggest advantage? Luxury wooden rollerball pens combine the elegance of fountain pens with the practicality of modern refills. In other words – you enjoy the smooth, fluid writing experience without the need for complicated maintenance.
Wooden rollerball pens are therefore a perfect fusion of the heritage of classic writing instruments and the technology of today. The result is effortless writing with a distinctive pen that has its own story – a story that can easily continue for kilometres of handwritten notes and signatures.

How does a rollerball pen work? Inside the pen there is a refill filled with liquid or gel ink. At the tip sits a tiny metal ball that rotates smoothly while writing and transfers the ink evenly onto the paper. This system combines the smooth writing experience of a fountain pen with the simplicity of a modern refill.
This is where technical precision plays an important role. The ball must be free enough to rotate smoothly while still perfectly sealed so that the ink flows evenly without leaking.
The magic of a rollerball pen, however, lies not only in its performance. Elegance, durability and writing comfort are just as important, so that every owner of an original handcrafted piece enjoys writing with it – whether right-handed or left-handed. That is why I place the same emphasis on exterior design and balance as on the writing mechanism itself.
Why choose a wooden rollerball pen?
- Smooth and fluid writing experience
- Comfortable for both right- and left-handed writers
- Combines elegance with everyday practicality
- A fusion of tradition and modern craftsmanship
- Every piece is a unique handcrafted original
Besides a rollerball pen, you can also choose a fountain pen – its traditional predecessor. Discover the difference between fountain pens and other writing instruments and find out which one suits you best.
What is the origin of the wood?
At the beginning of the entire creative process of producing a wooden rollerball pen stands the careful selection of the material. Most often I choose wood from gardens and land where trees need to be removed. In this way, every piece begins a new chapter of its life – a chapter that continues in your hands.
Some special species I personally bring from abroad. What must a piece of wood fulfil? Quite simply – it has to captivate me so much that the beautiful lines of its grain keep me thinking about it even at night. And believe it or not, this really happens – for example with olive wood from the Greek island of Karpathos, which I visit every year.
Types of rollerball pens
Experience has taught me which internal construction and external design work best for a rollerball pen. The differences between individual pieces are therefore mainly aesthetic – besides the wood itself. You can choose from more than 20 different wood species, both local and exotic. The final character of the pen is also influenced by the choice of metal finish, which may be gold or silver.
I constantly try to expand the selection of woods in my workshop. Many people choose proven classics such as walnut, apple wood, olive wood or oak. And among the exotic woods I should also mention the dark tropical wood wenge.
I would be happy to introduce the individual wood types in more detail. Their characteristics and how they influence the pens are explained in the article How to choose a pen and the right pen box.
How do you refill ink in a rollerball pen?
Ink is replaced simply by inserting a new refill. Rollerball refills with high-quality ink are available directly here on the website, and compatible refills can also be purchased in most stationery shops.
How to care for a wooden rollerball pen?
To make sure you rarely need maintenance, every pen from my workshop is treated with layers of durable hard wax oil. This increases resistance to wear and extends the lifespan of the wood.
Even so, no wood lasts forever. To keep your pen looking beautiful for as long as possible, I recommend occasionally treating the surface with linseed oil. This simple care restores the shine and elegance of a new handcrafted product.
- Do not press: rollerball ink flows smoothly
- Use regularly: ink may dry out when unused
- Close it: you will extend the refill lifespan
- Do not bend the clip: trust me, it is not worth it
Finally, I would like to thank you for considering a pen from my workshop. I truly appreciate it.
